With over 6,000 runners, and some of the fastest elite runners on the east coast, as well as stroller and dog divisions, the Turkey Trot is a great way to start your Thanksgiving morning.

Thu 11/23/2017 Turkey Chase 10K Bethesda, MD  (BCC YMCA) 8:00 a.m. Turkey Chase has been celebrated in Bethesda, MD since 1982 with participants from all over the U.S. The event features a 2-mile fun run, a USATF-certified 10K race and a 50-meter Tot Trot, where kids 9 and under chase the elusive mascot. Hosted by the YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase and the BCC Rotary, Turkey Chase has raised over $4.2MM to benefit at-risk children and families in Montgomery County.

The 5K starts at 8:45 a.m. While others were putting turkeys in the oven or nestling on the couch, runners of all ages celebrate the spirit of giving at the YMCA Camp Letts Turkey Chase race! Held on Thanksgiving morning, the Turkey Chase is our largest fundraiser and most buzzed about event every year! Each year we hold a 10Km and 5km race through our beautiful property with all proceeds helping to send deserving children and young adults to overnight and day camp programs here at Camp Letts.

For 15 years, Way Station has been hosting this event, bringing family, friends, and local businesses together for a morning of fun, fellowship, and exercise. Thu 11/23/2017 Fairfax Turkey Trot 4-Miler Fairfax, VA (Mantua Pool) 9:00 a.m. This year we are proud to be donating the net proceeds again to Britepaths (formerly Our Daily Bread)! The Mantua Community and MOMS (Moms of Mantua) non-profit group have organized the Fairfax Turkey Trot as a fun, community event, and a way to give back to the larger community by donating the proceeds to various organizations over the years. This year, they are excited to be teaming up with Britepaths and will donate all race proceeds to this wonderful organization. Moms of Mantua is a wonderful group of neighbors in the Mantua area whose goal is to socialize their children and themselves in safe and fun ways throughout the year.

The event includes 10K and 5K runs, a 5K walk, and a kiddie fun run, which is led by Santa and Mrs. Claus. After the run, participants and their families can enjoy refreshments and take photos with Santa. Please note: No pets and no running strollers are permitted. Thu 11/23/2017 Turkey Trot for Parkinson's 5k Run/Walk & 1 Mile Gobble Wobble Lorton, VA (South County High School) 9:00 a.m. The Turkey Trot for Parkinson's began in 2015 as a way to support Parkinson's research and raise awareness for the disease. It quickly evolved into a wonderful, fun, family friendly, community event that shows support for all of those affected by Parkinson's Disease. In addition to being great race for everyone to enjoy - it’s an opportunity to get up and off the couch, get active with the family, work up an appetite for the feasting and celebrate the start of the Season of Giving! Trot for Hunger 5K Washington, DC (Freedom Plaza) 9:00 a.m. The only turkey trot in the District, the Trot for Hunger is a local tradition and a way to help people in need on Thanksgiving Day. SOME (So Others Might Eat) is an interfaith, community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation’s capital. We meet the immediate daily needs of the people we serve with food, clothing, and health care. We help break the cycle of homelessness by offering services, such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling, to the poor, the elderly and individuals with mental illness.

As with all FRR races, this will be a festive affair — music, best costume awards, and our World Famous finish line envelopes featuring the random Golden Ticket awards {just hope for a “Willy Wonka-like” golden ticket}. Sat 11/25/2017 Turkey Burnoff 10M & 5M Gaithersburg, MD (Seneca Creek State Park) 8:30 a.m. Work off those extra holiday calories at one of our most popular club races, the 29th running of the Turkey Burnoff 5 and 10 mile (CS) race at Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg. The course is scenic (double loop for 10 milers) and you’ll burn off that third helping of pumpkin pie on the gently rolling hills. The park deer occasionally make a cameo appearance, and they don’t brake for runners!

Sat 11/25/2017 NCR Trail Marathon, Half Marathon & Marathon Relay Sparks Glencoe, MD (Sparks Elementary School) 8:30 a.m. The marathon is the MD RRCA State Trail Marathon Championship. The Northern Central Trail Marathon, Half Marathon, and two person Marathon Relay are held the Saturday after Thanksgiving in northern Baltimore County, Maryland. The majority of the course is run on the scenic and flat Northern Central Railroad Trail. The Half Marathon is the first leg of the Two-Person Relay. The Two-Person Relay covers the same route at the same time as the marathon. Each team member runs a 13.1 mile leg of the relay.

The event takes place at the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Towpath, at 4940 Canal Road, N.W., Washington, DC 20007, which is accessible via the Capital Crescent bicycle trail. Please register before your first run. Only ever register with parkrun once. Don't forget to bring a printed copy of your barcode (request a reminder). If you forget it, you won't get a time. To register with us please head to parkrun.com/countries and select your country. Then click register from the top right menu and fill in the form. Sat 11/25/2017 NCR Marathon & Half Marathon Sparks Glencoe, MD (Oldfields School) 8:30 a.m. Welcome to the redesigned NCR Marathon and the new NCR Half Marathon presented by the Baltimore Road Runners Club! The new course has a .6 mile downhill road section with the remaining 25.6 miles on the NCR Trail making this the fastest marathon and Boston Qualifier for hundreds of miles! The new half marathon will start and finish the same as the marathon making it too one of the fastest half marathons for hundreds of miles. We will now start at the Historic and beautiful Oldfields School campus with the course running .6 miles down Glencoe Rd. to where it turns onto the NCR trail and goes out and back along the trail to finish on the trail at Glencoe Rd. The trail surface is a compacted combination of dirt and fine stone and winds along the Gunpowder river through quiet farmland.
