Sat 02/25/2017 Cloud Snapple Half Marathon Carderock (Potomac), MD (Carderock Recreation Area) 9:00 a.m. Out and back course on the C&O Canal Towpath, gravel all the way, with a few short wooden / limestone bridges, mostly flat, with spectacular vistas of the Potomac River. The event is a fundraiser for the High Cloud Foundation, which plans to use the proceeds from the raise to further its mission of providing assistance to orphanages, children’s foundations and rural schools in developing parts of the world. The foundation has worked over the past several years to provide assistance to children throughout the Washington D.C. area.

Sat 03/04/2017 Jamestown High School Swamp Run 5K Williamsburg, VA (Jamestown High School) 9:00 a.m. The day's events: 5K Run/Walk, 9:30 a.m.; 1 mile fun run/walk, 9 a.m.; quarter mile run/walk on the track, 10:30 a.m. The JHS Swamp Run 5K Run/Walk is a Colonial Road Runners Grand Prix Event that benefits the Jamestown High School Athletic Booster Club. A One Mile Fun Run and a Quarter Mile Fun Run will also be held. The course is a mostly flat 5K loop that starts and ends at Jamestown High School and follows part of the scenic Greensprings Trail behind the school. The terrain consists of compacted soil with some sections on grass, asphalt, and wooden bridges. In addition to on-line and mail-in registration, walk-in race registration will be available race day morning at JHS.

Sun 03/05/2017 Tim Kennard 10 Mile River Run and 5K Run/Walk Salisbury, MD (Salisbury University) 9:00 a.m. Timothy Kennard, 48 years old, and father of a 7-year old son, passed away on March 11, 2004. He fought a courageous battle against renal cancer. Tim is missed by his family and fellow running friends. This run/walk is in his honor, with proceeds going, as Tim requested, to help children and animals. This year the proceeds will help Coastal Hospice, specifically for pediatric cases and programs for grieving children who have lost a sibling or a parent to cancer.

Sun 03/05/2017 Spring Backyard Burn Trail Running Series-Race #1 Annandale, VA (Wakefield Park) 9:00 a.m. Race options - 10 mile and 5.5 mile. Located a stones throw from the Capital Beltway, Wakefield Park offers racers a fast, fun, and ‘mostly flat’ course that includes twisty single-track hiking trails, wide cinder trails, and several shallow stream crossings - a perfect course to kick-off the SBYB series. The 14th annual Spring Backyard Burn is a series of 5 and 10 mile trail running races held on some of the best trail networks in the Northern Virginia Area. All the courses include a mixture of forested fire roads, twisty hiking trails, stream crossings, grassy fields, and minimal pavement. Race in one, two, three, or all four races of the SBYB (March 5, 19; April 23; May 7). After each race, awards are presented to the top five finishers in each age group. In addition, a point system adding competitors' four-race point totals will be used to determine the top five series finishers in each age group. Sat 03/11/2017 Spring Thaw Trail Series at Willowsford Aldie, VA (The Grant at Willowsford) 9:00 a.m. The day's events include a 10K and 5K. The Grant at Willowsford: Pound out some trails and keep that New Year’s resolution alive. The 5K, 10K, and half marathon trail runs pass through the ever changing landscape of Willowsford. You will experience dirt trails and gravel roads as you take on this course through woods and gently rolling open fields. The Grant will have a few new bits of moderately technical trail suitable for beginners through expert trail enthusiasts. Open fields and woods, trails, and gravel roads provide a full range of surfaces to keep it interesting. Virginia brings the fantastic trails! Try out some of the best on offer at our 5th annual Spring Thaw Trail Series. The series is three weekends - March 11, 18, 25 - of trail runs on three different trail networks to challenge all abilities. Race once or a few times, or tackle all three. ? Sat 03/11/2017 OCMD ST. PATRICK’S DAY BOARDWALK 5K Ocean City, MD 9:00 a.m. Another fantastic turnout last year with over 1,200 registered runners. The 5 kilometer race will start on the OCMD boardwalk on 4th Street at 9:00 am directly behind Shenanigans Irish Pub. Same rules as last year, Exact start and finish are subject to change slightly depending on timing equipment requirements. The course will start running south toward the inlet, around pier, then down under the white tran station making a 180 degree turn back on the boardwalk heading north, past Shenanigans starting area, up to 16th st, then making another 180 degree turn heading south once again down the boards to the finish line at 4th st.

You’ll cruise through Rosslyn and continue on Route 110 past Arlington Cemetery before turning around. At that point, you’ll need to ready yourself to climb the hill to the Finish Line! This 4 mile race offers a tough route that will test your mettle! But, rise to the challenge, and there’s no better thrill.
