Purpose The 2006 racePacket Grand Prix Series brings together a group of quality races to allow runners to compete at a variety of distances throughout the year. The series will help determine how your abilities compare with your age-group peers, in an objective head-to-head contest. Prove that you’re among the best in town! Series Rules The series is scored for both an open division and in separate age groups: 29 and under, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over. The runners with the most points at the end of the year will receive awards at a reception to be held in January 2007. To be eligible, a runner must compete in at least five series races. For the open division, the first place runner is assigned 20 points, the second place runner is assigned 19 points, etc. For each age group, the top 10 runners in each race will receive points, with the first runner being assigned 10 points, etc. The more races in the series that you run, the more points you get. Your best 8 races count toward the competition. (Because of the large number of out-of-town runners in the Marine Corps Marathon 10K, we will assign 20 overall points to the first local runner in that race, and skip over the first out-of-town runners.) |
Prizes The total purse $3,000. The top six men and women in the open division will receive the following cash prizes: 1st: $500.00; 2nd: $200.00; 3rd: $125.00; 4th: $100.00; 5th: $75.00; 6th: $60.00. Age group awards are three deep with awards: $50, $30, and SportScience T-shirts for 3rd place. No duplicate awards. How to Enter You enter the RacePacket Grand Prix Series automatically by registering to run the races listed below. No separate fee is required. Watch for each issue of the racePacket to see how your point totals compare with other runners in the area, or check the racePacket Web page on the Internet.
