Sat 05/18/2024 Dalton's Dash 5K Walk/Run & Kids 100-Yard dash Virginia Beach, VA (Club Brittany) 8:00 a.m. Virtual 5K Option Available. Kids 100-Yard Dash - 9:15 a.m. - Start. Grab your friends, family, survivors, and caretakers, and join us for a beautiful morning of love, laughter, and fun! Oh...and a 5k run/walk + kids' dash! Why D-Feet Cancer? D-Feet Cancer was formed in late 2021 after parents Jen and Will promised their 12-year-old son, Dalton, they wouldn’t stop fighting this disease to help kids like him. With support from family, friends, and community, D-Feet Cancer was formed in late 2021. In January 2023, D-Feet Cancer wrote a check for $100,000.08 (8 was Dalton’s favorite number) to fund one year of Ewing Sarcoma research. This research, in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh and St. Baldrick’s Foundation, aims to specifically target Ewing Sarcoma cells via cell surface receptors while leaving healthy cells alone. If successful, this treatment could significantly increase survivorship while limiting the often debilitating and sometimes fatal side effects of traditional chemotherapy. After another year of fundraising, D-Feet Cancer donated another $100,000 to St. Baldrick's in February 2024 to fund the University of Pittsburgh research for a second year. Additionally, D-Feet just committed $50,000 to fund a separate but related research project. Thank you to all of our sponsors, donors, and supporters for allowing us to fund this critical research. D-Feet Cancer hopes to continue to raise awareness of pediatric cancer in general and Ewing Sarcoma specifically in the years to come. 100% of donations and all event proceeds will directly fund Ewing Sarcoma research to help the approximately 300 U.S. kids each year, who, just like Dalton, are diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. To learn more about D-Feet Cancer, the research we fund, and our mission, please visit www.DFeetCancer.org. The story of our inspiration, Dalton Fox, can be found on the website but is also below. Dalton is our “WHY.” This is a FUN run and not a timed event. Additionally, those running with strollers and walking are encouraged to start in the back of the pack. Wheelchair/hand-cyclists/duo teams will be allowed on a limited basis, and these runners will start at the front of the pack. Please contact us if you will be participating as a wheelchair/hand-cycle/duo team. Pets, bicycles, skateboards, in-line skates, and scooters are NOT permitted in the race.

Sat 05/18/2024 Eagles Autism Challenge - 5K Run/Walk & 10- 30-Mile Bike Ride Philadelphia, PA (The Navy Yard) 11:00 a.m. Virtual Option Available. The Eagles Autism Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for innovative research and care programs. By providing the necessary resources to doctors and scientists at leading institutions, we will be able to assist those currently affected by autism as well as future generations. Our event aims to inspire and engage the community, so together, we can provide much-needed support to make a lasting impact in the field of autism. Championed by Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie, the Eagles Autism Foundation sets out to fund innovative research, drive scientific breakthroughs, and provide critical resources to create a major shift from awareness to action through the signature fundraising event, the Eagles Autism Challenge. One hundred percent of participant-raised funds from the team’s signature charity event are invested into the autism research and care community, with more than $25 million raised in its six years. Today, millions of people around the world are connected to autism. The Center for Disease Control estimates that 1 in 36 people under 21 living in the United States are on the autism spectrum, making it the fastest-growing developmental disorder. For Eagles owner and CEO Jeffrey Lurie, it is personal. With autism in his own family, Lurie knows his is just one of many families dealing with this condition and has seen firsthand the difference the right resources can make. At the Eagles, we take our responsibility to the community very seriously and look for how to best leverage our brand and ability to bring people together in order to drive critical resources and funding to autism. We want to give a voice to families who live with autism – the ones who are out there every day advocating, promoting, supporting, and seeking out opportunities for their loved ones. One organization can’t do it alone, so we are partnering with thought leaders to advance scientific breakthroughs. Together all of us can shift from autism awareness to action for transformational impact, not only in Philadelphia but throughout the world.

Sun 05/19/2024 Fountainhead Half Marathon & 10K Trail Run Fairfax Station, VA (Fountainhead Regional Park) 8:00 a.m. (Half); 2:30 a.m. (10K) Course Length: 6.8 miles (10K++) OR 13.1 miles (HM). Elevation Gain: 700 feet OR 1,400 feet The Fountainhead Half Marathon and 10K courses are absolutely tough and they are absolutely beautiful. Fountainhead Regional Park, in Fairfax County, VA, is only 30 minutes outside of Washington D.C. and has an extremely remote feel for being so close to a major metropolitan area. The half marathon(ish) course includes a 6-mile long stretch of the Bull-Run Occoquan Trail (BROT) from Fountainhead to Bull Run Marina as well as three seldom used side trails along the BROT. The 10K(ish) course uses a shorter section of the BROT and one of the side trails…yes…it’s the one with the really epic climb! Half marathon racers must maintain a minimum pace that will allow for a 4 hour maximum finish. Portable music players or any device requiring in-ear headphones are not permitted. Pets and Pacers are not allowed on the course. Baby strollers are not permitted on the course. The day's events include a Kids Race at 11:00 a.m., for ages 2-11. We split into age groups and run short out and back races. Kids who participate can pick from the Treasure Box. See website for complete event details.

Sun 05/19/2024 Highball to Thurmond 50-Miler & Relay/55K Thurmond, WV (Thurmond Train Station); Montgomery, WV 4:45 a.m. (First of 3 event starts - see Schedule of Events below) Race Through New River Gorge National Park! The highball was a signal used in early railroads to signal the track was clear. When the ball was hoisted, trains were cleared to proceed! We are raising the ball on this unique 50 Mile & 55K event and encouraging athletes to proceed on this epic destination trail race adventure. Participants will run through New River Gorge National Park and finish in Thurmond, West Virginia. With a population of 5 at the 2010 census, it is the least populated railroad town in the nation. Participants can choose to take the train back to the 50 Mile start line. The train leaves at 6:59 pm and the last call whistle will be at 6:45 pm! Schedule of Events: 50 Mile Race Start Time - 14 hour time limit: 4:45 a.m. (not eligible for awards). Starts in Montgomery, WV 50 Mile Race Start Time - 12.75 hour time limit: 6:00 a.m. (eligible for awards). Starts in Montgomery, WV. We have two start times for the 50 mile race because we want everyone to have the opportunity to "beat the train" but do not want everyone to have to start at 4:45 a.m. We also do not want earlier finishers to have to wait hours for the train. 55 Kilometer Race Start Time: 7:00 a.m. Last Finisher: 6:45 p.m. The 55K includes a Ruck Division. Starts in Thurmond, WV. The 50 mile relay can be run with 2, 3, or 4 people. With 5 relay hand off points, athletes can run it in any order and run as many or as few legs as they want as long as each member of the team runs at least one. Train leaves the station: 6:59 p.m. We do not control the trains. This is a reliable schedule and is rarely late. But if Amtrak is delayed, 50-Miler athletes' departure will be delayed as well. See website for event descriptions and complete event details.
