Fri 05/10/2024 Light the Night 5K Newark, DE (Innovation Way) 7:30 p.m. Join us for the 2nd Annual Light the Night 5k benefiting SL24: Sean's House. SL24 UnLocke The Light Foundation Educates, Supports and Assists young people with their mental health. Mental illness does not care if you were a college athlete or homecoming king. For Sean Locke, depression did not read his resume or care how much hope or potential he had in his life. Sean was a part of everyone’s team. Whether it was picking his little sister up from school or spending countless hours on the court, his light and love made him everyone’s first round draft pick. Despite his shining personality, he was not able to see out of the darkness. Sean lost his battle to depression on July 18, 2018. Just a few weeks before his 24th birthday. We know that in order to fight darkness, we need a team of light. A team full of family, friends, and mental health specialists with a common goal to support those who are currently fighting their own darkness. Sean’s life and death has touched many people. Sean was always willing to help others, he was always willing to be a friend to anyone. Sean was a kind, caring and loving person. In his spirit, the Locke family has begun the SL24: UnLocke the Light Foundation. See website for event details.

Sat 05/11/2024 Capital for a Day 5K Olney, MD (Rosa Parks Middle School) 8:05 a.m. The Capital for a Day 5K was originally run in Brookeville, MD before moving to Olney, just south or Brookeville. Brookeville, Maryland was once the capital of the United States because President Madison stayed there for one night, in search of his wife, after fleeing the White House when the British were invading. When he arrived, he asked for someone to put him up for the night. They refused. The second person he asked allowed him to stay. The date was August 14, 1814 and the next day, it was deemed safe for President Madison to return to the White House. Hence, Brookeville’s claim to fame with being the “Capital for a Day.” The race starts at Rosa Parks Middle School in Olney and runs on neighborhood streets. The roads will not be closed, so everyone is encouraged to remain aware of traffic. Capital for a Day is part of the Championship Series. Sat 05/11/2024 Dirty German Endurance Fest - 50-Miler, 50K & 25K Philadelphia, PA (Pennypack Park, Ed Kelly Amphitheater) 7:30 a.m. (50-Miler); 8:00 a.m. (50K); 8:30 a.m. (25K) Events: 50-Miler; 50K & 25K. This race takes place within the city limits of Philadelphia, and therefore qualifies as an urban ultramarathon, but you will not find things like traffic, noise, bad air quality & concrete buildings here. This race course is located within Pennypack Park, a hidden gem within Philadelphia's Fairmont park system. The park stretches along Pennypack creek and is home to many trails, huge old trees, birds & other wildlife. This race offers a perfect opportunity for runners to enter the exciting world of trail (ultra)running. This is a good course to run your first ultra or a PR if the weather cooperates. We accomplish this by providing a course that is well marked & not too technical. The course features different surfaces. Some soft and occationally sandy spots along the creek, a lot of smooth single track as well as some wider flat gravel trail. Every loop includes about 1 mile of paved bike trail. There is some elevation, but the climbs are short. This course is very runnable and easy by trail running standards, which as experienced runners will know, can make it even more challenging, because it will not give you many opportunities where you can/should hike. Course: Along Pennypack Creek within the limits of Pennypack park. Course is basically a figure 8 consisting of mostly single track trail and a short paved bike path section. One loop is 25K. 50 K runners will run it twice, 50 mile runners will run the main loop 3 times and an extra 1 mile dog leg section during each loop (well marked). This is a wonderful park setting, with gorgeous views of the creek, wildlife and nature within the city limits of Philadelphia. Time Limit: 12 hours & 30 min (for the 50M). This is a firm time limit. The park closes at 9 Pm, and we need to be all cleared out by then. You have to make it to the 35 Mile mark by 8 hours, otherwise you can not continue. Register at - https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=107071. See websites for complete event details. Proudly supports Pennypack Park and local charities.
