Steve Kartalia from Westminster ran ahead of a tight pack -- all over 40 -- to win the 399th monthly race. Laurie Dempsey stayed ahead of Robyn Hoeschen and Ruth O'Hara to win the women's race.
Kevin Moore appeared fully recovered from his Boston Marathon race two days earlier.
Nice weather brought out many new runners. Race director Jay Jacob Wind led the group in a moment if silence in memory of the victims of the massacre at Virginia Tech.
