Despite the fine race direction of Randy Wingfield and Pete Martin, the One Hour Track Run turned out to be somewhat unpopular amongst the SVR membership. Circling a quarter-mile track for sixty minutes is not particularly exciting, truth be told. SVR wunderkind Bobby Lockhart actually pulled himself out of the race after ten kilometers, professing to be "bored"! Still, other participants of the race managed to have fun, especially women's winners Carolyn Wilson and Kim Burns, who chatted together for nearly eight miles.
The men's world record of 21,285 m is held by Haile Gebrselassie. The women's world record of 18,517 m is held by Dire Tune.
