DCRRC Paul Thurston Memorial 4.5 Family Run

This is the final race in the Bunion Derby. Unfortunately, a significant portion of the
runners were misdirected off the course because of conflicting markings from a cross-county
course. Some of the runners listed improvised a 6+ mile course far removed from the official
course. Another group, just added a little more than a mile in an extra loop before resuming
the normal course. This is one of those races where the lead pack bearly broke into the list of
top 50 finishers.
This race is named in honor of Paul Thurston, who together with his son Robert, held the US
father-son marathon record. Robert attended this race with his wife Delabian and competed with his
