A hardy group of runners enjoyed warm, slightly humid
conditions for the May 5, 2001 edition of the New Members 8K at
Lake Accotink Park in Springfield, Virginia. 26 runners headed
out on the double out and back course that was slightly short.
The race director promises to have an accurate certified course
for next year. For the men, Mike Domin ran an impressive 27:00
to win the race. Roseann Neatrour also ran well, first among the
women in 36:50. First new member for the men was Kirk Gordon in
29:10.
The race was held on Saturday morning to try to increase
turnout. It likely will return next year to its historic place
as the first weekday evening run of the year.
The race director would like to thank volunteers Roland
Elliott, Gary Smith, Tom Nowicki, Stephanie Nowicki, and Danny
Finn, for a job well done. See you all again next year.
