Direction to Coliseum: From I-64, take exit 263-B (Mercury Blvd/Hampton Coliseum); turn right at first traffic light onto Coliseum Dr.; continue to the Hampton Coliseum.

Entrants in the half marathon and the 5K run will receive 10th Anniversary commemorative merchandise. $20 entry fee for the half-marathon postmarked by January 26, 2001, $25 late and $30 race day. $15 entry for the 5K run postmarked by January 26, 2001, $20 late and race day. 10th Anniversary commemorative merchandise is guaranteed to all pre-registered runners. Commemorative merchandise will be provided to late and race-day entrants while supplies last.Race week late registration and packet pickup will take place Friday, February 2, 2001, from 5pm - 9pm at the Hampton Holiday Inn and Saturday, February 3, 2001 from 7am - 9am at the Hampton Coliseum. All race packets must be picked up prior to the start of the race. Race packets will not be mailed, delivered or held for individuals. No PTC race passes accepted.
Course: Half Marathon -- 9:30 a.m. start. The half marathon is a flat, fast USATF-certified (VA91001-RT) 13.1-mile loop course on asphalt roads. Starting near the Hampton Coliseum on Pine Chapel Road, it winds through scenic portions of Old Hampton, past Victorian homes, and along the Hampton Roads shoreline. Highest elevation is 30 ft above sea level. Except for two overpasses (Powhatan Parkway and Pine Chapel Rd) the course is entirely flat. Spit times every mile. Six water and All Sport stops on the course. No official times after 2 1/2 hours.
5K -- 9:40 a.m. Start. The 5K race starts on the grounds of the Hampton Coliseum with a turnaround at Hampton High School and finishes inside the Hampton Coliseum. Flat, except for Pine Chapel Road overpass. No official times after 45:00.
Ample parking, restrooms and shower facilities at the Hampton Coliseum. The average high for Feb. 3 is 49 degrees and the average low is 31 degrees. The expected race temperature should be in the 40s and 50s.

Team Competition: Half marathon only. Teams consist of three or more runners with the top three scoring (total time.) No substitutes or team entries after February 4, 2000. NO EXCEPTIONS. Since 1992, Francie has served as National Honorary Chair of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, “Race for the Cure.” Also, she has served on the board of the Lance Armstrong Foundation since its inception in 1997.
Currently, Francie is coaching men’s and women’s cross country at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, and studying for her Masters Degree in Sport Management at the University of Texas at Austin. She resides in Georgetown, Texas with her husband Jimmy C. Smith, Ph.D., a professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Southwestern University.
