Other Information: Proceeds from 5th Annual Stop, Drop and Run 5k will be used to purchase another Lucas live saving device. Lewes Fire Dept. ran 4,300 EMS calls in the district in 2018. With consideration to the fact that the Cape region is undergoing a building boom and more than 5,000 residential building units are under construction with at least that many pending approval, it is safe to say that Lewes FD will need more life saving tools! The LUCAS™ Chest Compression System is a safe and efficient American Heart Association recommended tool that standardizes chest compressions and provides quality CPR for all patients. The mechanically controlled LUCAS™ compressions are able to sustain a higher blood flow to the brain and heart compared to manual compressions. It also frees up rescuers to focus on other life-saving tasks & creates new rescue opportunities.Because this machine won’t get tired, it will keep the beat and also keep EMT personnel safer in the rear of an ambulance.
