Sat 05/19/2012 Wildcat Half Marathon/10K/5K El Sobrante, CA 8 am Join us for a Half Marathon, 10K and 5K offering spectacular views of the entire Bay Area! 2,430 acres of land extending north from Tilden Park, Wildcat Canyon Regional Park is normally inaccessible to trail runs due to a lack of staging area. Thanks to a generous concession by the East Bay Waldorf School (which sits next to a trailhead), however, we are finally able to make these incredible trails available for a run you won't soon forget! Views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Mount Tamalpais, the Bay and even the ocean await you. Trails are primarily fire trails with a few very short sections of paved trail (less than 10%).

Sat 06/02/2012 Springfield 15K / 5K Springfield, VA (Lee H.S.) 7:30 a.m. Held in conjunction with the Springfield Days festival, this is a signature race event for southern Fairfax County. Picture 1000 runners and walkers starting at Lee High School, winding through neighborhood streets, then flooding onto the wide expanse of Commerce Street — Springfield’s ‘main street’ in the commercial district. At the end of Commerce Street, the 5K’ers reverse direction to take it all in again, as they return to Lee High School for a terrific track finish. The 15K’ers separate from the 5K field at that turnaround point, drop onto the Accotink Creek paved trail, wind their way to Lake Accotink Park, take in some lake trail, exit the park through treed neighborhoods, then back to Lee High School for that great track finish. Other info: 1/2M fun run/walk, age group awards, chip timing, proceeds benefit local fitness and recreation programs for underserved youth. Hosted by the Kingstowne Striders running club, serving southern Fairfax County.

Home of gunpowder and dynamite manufacturers for almost 100 years, Point Pinole became part of the East Bay Regional Park District in the 1970s. With panoramic views of the bay, wildflowers, over 100 species of bird and eucalyptus woodlands (originally planted to buffer potential explosions!), Point Pinole Regional Shoreline Park is truly the hidden gem of the East Bay. If you have never been there before, you are in for a surprise. All 5K and 10K finishers will receive custom medals and race t-shirts.
